DarLink Ai Review 2026: Pros, Cons, and Who Is It For

Okay so here's my honest take after three weeks. Most AI girlfriend apps are basically the same chat model wearing different skins, and you figure that out by day two. DarLink Ai is one of maybe three or four platforms I've tested where something under the hood is genuinely different, and that thing is the memory.

I kept a notes file. Boring, I know, but I logged 47 specific details across the test, stuff like a fictional weekend trip we roleplayed, the tattoo design I picked during character creation, a joke I'd told her was terrible. She brought back 43 of them on her own. No prompting. That's around 91% and it's the best I've measured this year, not close honestly.

The other thing that surprised me was the pacing of the chat. It texts like a person. Short bursts, sometimes two or three messages in a row, occasional pauses. It sounds like a tiny UX decision and it kind of is, but it does an absurd amount of heavy lifting for immersion. Then you hit the video generator and the whole illusion goes out the window, because a third of the time it just errors out or hands you a clip where her face slides off her head. Anyway. More on that below.

DarLink Ai is an AI companion platform where you build a girlfriend (or boyfriend, the character creator doesn't care) from scratch and then chat with her across text, voice notes, generated images and short video clips, all inside one conversation. It launched back in November 2023 and has been iterating fairly quietly since, no big viral push, which is probably why its traffic sits well below the Candy AI tier even though the product feels more carefully assembled.

The company behind it is FameLink SA, registered in the canton of Jura in Switzerland. I mention that because in this industry the corporate trail usually dead ends in Cyprus or Delaware and you never really know who's holding your chat logs.

Functionally it's split into five pillars: the character creator, the chat engine, Living Memory, image generation, and video. Four of those five are solid to excellent. The fifth one, video, is the one I'd tell you to pretend doesn't exist until they fix it. NSFW is fully supported on paid plans, and it's handled without the awkward deflect-then-comply dance you get on a lot of competitors.

Three paid tiers plus a free one that mostly exists to frustrate you into upgrading. Essential is $12.99 a month, or about $9.99 if you pay annually, which is a 23% cut and easily the best value move on the platform. Advanced sits at $27.99 and Ultimate at $49.99.

Coins are the second layer. 100 coins for $9.99 scaling all the way up to 7,500 for $599.99. At 2 coins per image, Essential's 100 coin allowance covers around 50 images a month, or five videos, which is fine for casual use and not remotely enough if you generate aggressively.

Things I found out the hard way during billing tests: auto-renew is on by default, so go kill it in account settings if you only want one month. The card descriptor reads "DarLink" which is not discreet, use a virtual card if that matters to you (and it probably does). There's no published pro-rated refund policy either, cancelling just stops the next charge and you keep access until the cycle ends.

Yeah, for most people, with one big asterisk. DarLink Ai does the hardest thing in this category well: it makes the relationship feel continuous. The memory system isn't a gimmick, the character builder is genuinely deep, and the images come out fast, consistent and unrestricted on paid plans. For $12.99, or $9.99 if you go annual, that's a legitimately good deal.

The asterisk is video, which is bad enough that I'd call it broken rather than weak. Nearly four in ten of my generations failed and you pay the coins regardless. Combine that with a tiny 18-character roster and a free tier that undersells the whole thing, and you've got a product that's excellent at three things and mediocre-to-bad at two.

So: if you're the type who builds one companion and gets invested in her over months, this is probably the best option available right now. If you're a browser, someone who hops between hundreds of bots looking for novelty, or you specifically want AI video, save your money and go somewhere else. I'll be keeping my subscription, personally. Mostly for the memory. It's spoiled me for everything else.
